The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) appropriated nearly $20 billion for health information technology, with the goal of enabling comprehensive management of medical information and its secure exchange between health care consumers and providers.
Irene Koch, executive director of the Brooklyn Health Information Exchange (BHIX) was invited to participate in a roundtable discussion with the Honorable Phil English, Senior Advisor, Government Relations, Arent Fox LLP. They addressed the following questions:
- How could health information exchanges impact institutions and individual physicians?
- Where can health providers obtain inexpensive capital for new clinical and information technologies?
- What is the status of other ARRA health care initiatives?
The program, Defensive Strategies for Healthcare Providers: Preparation, Compliance and Finance Hot Topics, was hosted by Arent Fox LLP in New York City and included leaders in the healthcare industry, finance and government. The Webinar attracted 120 attendees from the tri-state area, as well as from other major cities.
