Governance

The BHIX governance structure reflects its commitment to transparency and broad-based participation by a wide variety of representatives. The BHIX Board of Directors is composed of an impressive group of leaders from the BHIX member organizations, as well as representatives from the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and the Office of the Brooklyn Borough President.

BHIX’s participatory governance structure and collective decision making process embodies a community effort. The BHIX organization has created various working Committees which work to establish policies, operational guidelines and agreements that govern all Participants' use and interaction with the BHIX shared clinical system. Policies include those relating to patient privacy, security, access, configuration and use of the health information exchange.
