Director of Finance
Summary
Responsible for all financial and fiscal management aspects of company operations. Provide leadership and coordination in the administrative, business planning, accounting and budgeting efforts of the company.
Primary Responsibilities
- Direct and coordinate company financial planning and budget management functions.
- Develop and implement finance, accounting, billing, and auditing procedures and activities.
- Preparing annual budget and monthly reporting of actual to budget.
- Manage banking and line of credit activities.
- Managing cash, including providing investment options for working capital daily balances, maintaining daily cash flow reconciliation and providing weekly and monthly cash flow projections and disbursement schedules.
- Processing of accounts payable checks, including establishing a schedule to make payments within zero to ninety days.
- Oversee the approval and processing of revenue, expenditure, and position control documents, department budgets, mass salary updates, ledger, and account maintenance and data entry, and maintain general ledger.
- Oversee and administer grants, contracts and other revenue sources, including preparing all grant reports such as monthly and/or quarterly billing (expenditure reporting), grant renewals (fiscal year budgets), assist BHIX in applying for new grants and contracts, and reconcile grant receivables.
- Coordinate the preparation of financial statements, financial reports, special analyses, and information reports.
- Prepare annual tax returns.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal budgetary reporting requirements.
- Approve and coordinate changes and improvements in automated financial and management information systems for the company.
- Establish and maintain appropriate internal control safeguards.
- Ensure records systems are maintained in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards and provide the ability to manage budgets, maximize grants and produce accurate reports.
- Analyze cash flow, cost controls, and expenses to guide business leaders.
- Analyze financial statements to pinpoint potential weak areas.
- Recommend benchmarks for measuring financial and operating performance.
- Interact with other managers to provide consultative support to planning initiatives through financial and management information analyses, reports, and recommendations.
- Lead and assist with payor and provider contracting efforts.
- Create, coordinate, and evaluate the financial programs and supporting information systems of the company to include budgeting, tax planning, real estate, and conservation of assets.
- Develop and direct the implementation of strategic business plans, operational plans, projects, programs, and systems.
- Develop and oversee use of evaluation and efficiency measures.
- Establish and implement short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
- Design, establish, and maintain an organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish the department's goals and objectives.
- Direct financial audits, assist auditors with conduct of audits (annual and A-133), and provide recommendations for procedural improvements.
- Oversee Finance Committee and operation.
- Attending and making presentations to BHIX Board of Directors
Additional Responsibilities
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate department staff.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- Completion of a Masters Degree in Finance or Accounting, five to ten years of experience in a senior-level finance or accounting position, and a CPA. Healthcare experience preferred.
- Experience in grant management.
- Experience in strategic planning and execution.
- Knowledge of contracting, negotiating, and change management. Experience with provider and payor contracting preferred.
- Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems.
- Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations.
- Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
- Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule.
